Eating grapes and watching a trashy chick flick.
Mâcon-Farges, Domaine Paul et Mallory Talmard,...
Eaten with a fish pie this eight quid white Burgundy stood up well. Floral, quite herby, nose. Thick palate, reminiscent of a Viognier with quite a sharp finish. Good length of flavour with an aniseed-like finish despite being 100% chardonnay. Very nice.

How to Sell Short →
Concise explanation from dihard:
Perhaps you’ve seen headlines or references in articles about the ban on short selling. Many believe it is one of the main causes of the current financial crisis and the fall of such banks as Bear, Lehman, and AIG. But what exactly is “short selling?” How and when can you do it? And why is it so frowned upon?

marco:
Here’s what my perfect racing game would be:
Modern or futuristic vehicles, high speeds, with fun weapons. Wipeout almost nailed this — the only shortcomings are the relative weakness of the weapons and the lack of rubber-banding to keep players relatively close to each other in multiplayer.
Fun handling, not realistic handling. This rules out nearly every well-made modern racing...

A shepherd was herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced out of the dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in a Broni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leaned out the window and asked the shepherd…

dailymeh notes on ‘meta-proof’ and Curry’s paradox:
[…] Both the meta-proof and Curry’s paradox can be used to prove anything, so, inserting “God’s existence” for “anything”, here’s Curry:
If this sentence is true, then God exists.
Curry’s paradox is both shorter and harder to refute than the meta-proof. It seems...

St. Mark's: The Next Times Square?
dihard:
Will this become this? Venice’s Piazza San Marco is in need of restoration but can’t foot the bill. To help fund the project, Venice may resort to electronic advertising billboards, much like those adorning our beautiful Times Square.
The plan, yet to be officially approved, calls for five screens, each measuring about 2,500 square feet, to be hung on scaffolding throughout the square....
Sarah Palin: a loveable woman, but an appalling... →
Alice Mills writes in The Times of London:
What Mrs Palin represents is mesmerising this side of the Atlantic for its very political incorrectness.
So sick are we in Britain, with our centre left-centre right politicians of the centre, not one daring to have a view out of line with the very thin consensus that passes for acceptable opinion here, that we stand stunned by a woman who...

Clumsy
In the past few days I have:
Dropped a kettle full of (thankfully cold) water
Spilled tomato sauce on clean cream chinos
Poured half a pot of tea over my shoes
Deeply cut my right ring finger whilst slicing cheese
Walked into several doors
Bumped my head running down stairs
Kicked the fridge.
Is this a normal level of clumsiness or is there something wrong with me?
