I can vaguely remember using Netscape Navigator back in prep school. However, the current active user base of Netscape must be counted in the low thousands if not hundreds.

Americana →

Examples of this culture include baseball, apple pie, Superman, the Diner, barbed wire, wagon trains, jazz, the music of Stephen Foster, George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, the music of Aaron Copland (notably his Fanfare for the Common Man), and rockabilly;...

Taguchi methods →
From Wikipedia: Taguchi methods are statistical methods developed by Genichi Taguchi to improve the quality of manufactured goods and, more recently, to biotechnology , marketing and advertising. Taguchi methods are considered controversial among some traditional Western statisticians but others accept many of his concepts as being useful additions to the body of knowledge. Having been...

Russia axes London art exhibition →
It is a great shame that art has been dragged into politics. I was really looking forward to From Russia: French and Russian Master Paintings at the Royal Academy. Their exhibitions are always first rate. With works such as Picasso’s Dryad and other renowned Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works this was sure to have been a blockbuster.

Wow! John Gruber really wades in deep here. Whilst I agree with his point that the writer is both I’ll informed and a bit of a jerk I can’t help thinking that Gruber’s position cold be stronger held by some elequoent explanation of that stance; rather than the one or two sentance quips responding to extracted sections of the errant article.

A great British obsession →
A chance interrogation by his girlfriend one day got Sandy Balfour hooked on the Guardian’s cryptic crossword. Here was a realm where Araucaria was Beethoven, Rufus was Mozart. Anagrams became a second instinct, but what set these enigmatic, hard-headed puzzle masters apart from their rivals? Balfour found that ‘broken window admits the answer’ (3, 3, 6: solution, bottom of...

The 100% Easy-2-Read Standard →
Most websites are crammed with small text that is a pain to read. Why? There is no reason for squeezing so much information onto the screen. It’s just a stupid collective mistake that dates back to a time when screens were really, really small. Why my Tumblr theme is now Bill Israel’s excellent Easy Reader.
